It is over twenty five years since The Cottage Garden Society was founded by a few keen gardeners. They were concerned about the move to easily-maintained gardens where hard landscaping was threatening to become more important than the plants.
Their aim was to encourage the more traditional style of gardening and ensure that older varietes and species of garden plant were not lost.
The Worcestershire Group was founded in 2004 and the first of our regular meetings was on 22nd January 2005 at Powick Village Hall when the Speaker was Reg. Moule of BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester. He will be visiting us again in October 2010.
Each month from October to March we host a talk, usually accompanied by slides, and each month from April to September field trips are organised.
At least once a year we arrange a "bring and buy" plant sale and at our autumn/winter meetings we always have plants on sale.
All members receive The Society’s quarterly magazine "The Cottage Gardener" and our local group’s quarterly newsletter. Our gallery pages provide a photographic record of our field trips.
Membership of the Cottage Garden Society entitles you to membership of our local group. For more details see our membership page in this section.
